Introduction to the wines made
of the seven grape varieties
grown in the Alsace:
Sylvaner
a dry, thirst-quenching, light wine, with a discreetly
fruity flavour. It is a perfect match for seafood, fish, cold meat cuts
and salads.
Pinot Blanc
a round, delicate wine of fresh and supple taste, representing the typical
liveliness of the Alsace wines. It harmonizes well with most dishes
including seafood, fish, warm or cold starters, as well as poultry
Riesling
this is a dry, classy wine of refined delicate
fruitiness with a mineral or sometimes floral note in the background.
It is an incomparable companion to fish, seafood, white meat and, of
course, the famous Alsatian Sauerkraut.
Muscat
d'Alsace: it distinguishes itself
from the southern Muscat wines by its dry character. Delicately aromatic
it provokes the sensation of crunching fresh grapes. It will enhance
your receptions and cocktails, and is perfect to be served with appetizers.
It is also highly recommended with asparagus.
Pinot
Gris a heavyweight opulent wine with
a very characteristic flavour and structure, with a well-rounded and lasting
taste and woody, sometimes even smoky notes. An excellent companion to
"foie gras" (duck or goose liver), game, white meat, roasts
and giblets.
Gewurztraminer a
powerfully structured full-bodied wine with a strong character and exceptional
aromatic, spicy and flowery notes. Probably the most famous wine of the
region. It makes a perfect apertif wine and goes well with exotic dishes,
pungent cheeses and desserts.
Pinot
Noir the only red or rosé
wine produced in the Alsace. Its typical fruity taste evokes the cherry.
An ideal companion to cold meat cuts, barbecues, red meat, game and cheese.
Les
Côte de Rouffach
a class in between the generic wines and
the Grand Crus Vorbourg, these vines are growing in well protected, very
sunny areas high up in the wine hills. The wines "Côte de Rouffach"
are noted to be distinguishingly fruity and of a refreshing lively character.
Our range of wines growing in these prime locations include Riesling,
Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.

Les
Grands Crus Vorbourg
the wine which grows in the area called "Vorbourg"
is one of 50 designated Grand Crus with appellations of origin recognized
in the Alsace. In Rouffach, the Vorbourg benefits from the most sunny
and dry weather conditions in the region. Due to this favourable condition,
the grapes mature early and the noble mould is spread evenly amongst them.
The low yields allow each grape variety to unfold its specific character
to the maximum. The Vorbourg soils bring forth wines of very distinguished
typical structure and character, which age extremely well, developing
with age their individual special aromatic notes, such as peach, apricot,
mint or hazelnut. Our Grand Cru grape varieties are Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.

Les
Vendanges Tardives
these wines are picked a few weeks after the actual wine
harvest. The grapes are by then very ripe and contain a high concentration
of the noble mould. These wines are of very strong character with highly
accented aromas. Our vendages tardives include Riesling, Pinot Gris and
Gewurztraminer.
La
Sélection de Grains Nobles
as the name implies, the "Grains Nobles" is a
wine made of a selection of very ripe grapes which are dried out and well
saturated with the noble mould. This wine is well known for its characteristical
strength and elegant flavour. Its liqueury and mellow taste stays exceptionally
long in the mouth. We can offer you our "Selection de Grains Nobles
Gewurztraminer".
Le
Crémant d'Alsace
this is a sparkling wine produced in the same manner as
Champagne. After the first fermentation process is completed , the wine
is filled into special bottles where a second fermentation takes place,
to give the wine its fine pearling structure. These wines are normally
made of an assortment of grape varieties. Our white Crémant "Cuvée
du Paradis" contains 50 % Chardonnay, 30 % Pinot Blanc and 20 % Riesling.
The Crémant Rosé is made from the Pinot Noir grape.
